Nagy CLAY TWP. Alex James Nagy, 77, of Clay died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 in St. John Hospital, Detroit. He was born March 2, 1927 in Detroit.

He married Pearl Barbara Lakatos on Feb. 4, 1950 in Detroit. He was a member of the Algonac Knights of Columbus He is survived by his wife, Pearl; son, John; sisters, Julia (Steve) Katsaros and Elizabeth (Bob) Hopkins; and brother, Mike (Florence) Nagy. Funeral services will be noon Thursday in St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac.

Fr. Art Fauser will officiate. Burial will be in St. Catherines Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Harry Lampert, the illustrator who created the DC Comics superhero The Flash and later became known for his instructional books on bridge, died Saturday. He was 88. Lampert had been suffering from cancer, according to his family. He began drawing professionally 16, inking cartoons at Fleischer Studios in New York for characters such as Popeye, Betty Boop and KoKo the Clown. Later, Lampert created the DC Comics original Flash Comics Al in 1940, collaborating with writer Gardner Fox.

The first edition featuring the physics-defying superhero has become a classic among comic-book collectors. Lampert spent much of his life as a cartoonist, and he taught at the New York School of Visual Arts. He also started an advertising agency in New York that won several awards, including The Golden Lion at Cannes. After retiring in Florida, Lampert was known as an avid bridge player. He became president of the American Bridge Teachers Association and wrote several books on the subject, including The Fun Way to Serious Bridge.
