John Andrew Heinen ST. CLAIR John Andrew Heinen, 22, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1993. He was born March 27, 1971 Silures Edward Purkiss MARYSVILLE SUures Edward Purkiss, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 2S.

1993 in Faith Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Purkiss was born Aug. 8, 1909 in HarrisviUe and was a lifelong area resident. He married Dorothy Leffler Dec.

30, 1934. She died Nov. 19, 19S3. Mr. Purkiss was employed by the Marysville Department of Public Works prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He is survived by three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Reinhart (Alice) Langolf of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs.

Leland "Butch" (Edith) Purkiss of Marysville, and Mr. and Mrs. James (Verone) Purkiss of Clyde Township; a daughter-in-law, Jeannie Purkiss of Florida; nine grand-children; seven greatgrandchildren; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Harry Purkiss. Services are 1 p.m.

Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, the Rev. Bill Bendert of Pilgrim Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visiting is 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

28, 1993 in her home after a short illness. She was bom Dec. 22, 1929 in Detroit and had been an area resident since 1935. She married Edward R. Moore Jr.

June 14, 1952 in old St. Stephen Catholic Church in Port Huron. She was a graduate of St. Stephen High School, Port Huron Junior College and Marygrove College. She was a former member of Catholic Social Sen-ices' Board of Directors, the divisional board of Mercy Hospital and the Volunteer Services Bureau's Board of Directors.

She is survived by her husband, Edward R. Moore Jr. of Port Huron; son and daugther-in-law, Patrick and Jan Moore of Fort Gratiot; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Mary and David Ryskoski of Houston, Martha and Ivan Rodriguez of Comayagua, Honduras, Central America, and Therese and Dennis Spangler of Port Huron; two sons, John and Thomas Moore, both of Los Angeles; 1 1 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Michael "Mickey" and Lois Byrne of Mansfield, Ohio; and sister, Patricia Se-nyczko of Lansing. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in St.

Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Rene L. Des-marais will officiate. Family burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

He was a graduate of Saginaw Nouvel Catholic High School, where he was a member of the school's hockey team. He is survived by his William and Barbara Heinen of St.

Clair; brothers, Mark and David Heinen, both of St. Clair; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Eckhardt of Rochelle, maternal great-grandmother, Minne Eckhardt of Rochelle, 111. A funeral Mass is 11 a.m.

Leffler, 56, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1993 in his residence after a short illness. Mr. Leffler was born July 21, 1937 in Port Huron and was a lifelong resident. He married Dorothy Krause Nov.

I 8an- Exploration a division of South Ann N. Verbrugge COLUMBUS TOWNSHIP -Ann N. Verbrugge, 77, a lifelong Columbus Township resident, died Friday, Oct. 29, 1993, in her daughter's home. Mrs.

Verbrugge was born Jan. 31, 1916 in Columbus Township to Joseph and Mary Warus Tomak. She married Edwin B. Verbrugge in St. Clair County in January 1935.

He died in October 1949. Mrs. Verbrugge was an operating room instrument technician at St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Clemens for 27 years, where she received numerous service awards. She was a member of St.

Augustine Catholic Church in Richmond and the Polish National Alliance. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin David and Gladys Verbrugge of Columbus Township; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley "Michey" and Jack Verbrugge-Mapletoft of Richmond, Beverly and Jack Stoliker of Columbus Township, Sally and Lawrence Kus of Marine City; a brother, Daniel Tomak of Higgins Lake; dear friend, Helmut Bader of Columbus Township; grandchildren, Rhonda Morin, Audra Arancibia, Dawn Verbrugge, Aaron Stoliker, John Stoliker Eric and Kurt Stoliker, Beth Mareski and Courtney Kus; and great-grandchildren, Amber Mareski, Ashley and Austin Morin and Lauren Arancibia. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Rewalt Funeral Home in Richmond followed by an 11 a.m.

WASHINGTON Frank Lemay, a State Department economist who warned in a 1989 memorandum that President Saddam Hussein was diverting American farm loan money to buy weapons, died Thursday of AIDS. He was 36.

Mr. Lemay first privately warned his superiors in the office of the Under Secretary of Economic Affairs that Hussein had apparently misused money from a $5 billion farm loan-guarantee program to buy nuclear-related equipment SEATTLE Absolutely Nobody, who changed his name from David Powers during his unsuccessful bid for lieutenant governor, died Tuesday of AIDS in Oakland, Calif. Leffler of Port Huron; mother, Mrs. Lillian Leffler of Port Huron; two sisters, Mrs. Norma Jean (Stanley) Litman of Minnesota and Mrs. Joan (David) Garber of Nebraska; and sister-in-law, Judy Weiss of Port Huron. His father, Paul Leffler, died earlier.
