LOCAL-STATE The Times Herald Port Huron, Mich. Wednesday, September 30, 1 987 Mackinac park ponders strict anti-drinking rules RECORDS sessing alcoholic beverages. While drinking on city streets is prohibited, there is no ban in the park. The rule change would ban minors from possessing or transporting alcoholic beverages in the park. The rule would also make it unlawful to "engage in any violent, abusive, loud, boisterous, wanton, obscene or otherwise disorderly conduct tending to create a breach of the peace; disturb or annoy others." The regulation would ban loitering and sitting or lying on steps, porches or walks to impede passage of others, and would give Department of Natural Resources conservation officers authority on park lands 80 percent of the island.

By JERRY MOSKAL Gannett News Service LANSING Tough, new anti-drinking rules are being proposed to reduce rowdy behavior at Mackinac Island State Park. The Mackinac Island Parks Commission has proposed new regulations to curb drinking in Marquette Park at the foot of Fort Mackinac, near downtown. "We do have some problems, say in the the first part of the summer in the Marquette Park area," said David Armour, deputy park director. "But we don't have extraordinary problems." He said most of the problems have occurred during the first part of June and generally have cleared up after a couple of arrests were made for minors pos Safe. ffiffffeaitiiw IEfffiawpitlless.

Shop now and save! started the push for the ordinance in December 1986, saying "people need to feel comfortable when they come to the downtown area." The law does not affect two downtown massage parlors and one in the West Side business district because it is tied to the zoning code, which only governs new construction.

SAGINAW (AP) An or-dinance that prevents establishment of massage parlors, adult book stores and X-rated establishments in virtually all areas of Saginaw has been adopted by the City Council. The ordinance takes effect Thursday, Oct. 8. Councilman Roosevelt S. Kuffin.
