Cane sugar. Ibotiaoairoes Miss Ruth R. Graham CROSWELL Miss Ruth R. Graham, 93, of 7245 Simmons Street, Lexington, died Friday in McKenzie Memorial Hospital, Sandusky, after a long illness. Miss Graham was born July 15, 1881, in Sanilac County.

Miss Graham was a retired bookkeeper of the Detroit House of Corrections. She was employed there for 25 years. Miss Graham attended the First Presbyterian Church of Croswell. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Bartlett, Lexington, and two nieces, Mrs.

Ruth Troop, Waterford, and Mrs. Mary Faller, Reseda, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Pomeroy Funeral Home, Croswell. Rev.

Bruce George, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Croswell, will officiate. Burial will be in the Croswell Auborn H. Fetting SANDUSKY Auborn E. Fetting, 58. Sandusky, died Friday in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, after a long illness.

Fetting was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Wa-tertown Township. He had lived in this area for the last 30 years. Fetting was a retired Great Lakes sailor. He had been employed with Active Homes, Marlette, for the last six years.

He married Hilda Shaffbower, Dec. 28, 1937, in Sandusky. He is survived by his widow; a son. Paul Fetting, Watertown; four daughters, Mrs. William Bittner, Palms, Mrs.

Kenneth Rockefeller. Applegate, Mrs. Junior Mata, Melvin, and Mrs. Curtin Smith, Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Bernard Fetting, Owosso. Funeral seriices will be held at 2 p.m.

Monday in the Hacker Funeral Parlor, Sandusky. Elder Eldon Winters, pastor of the Latter Day Saints Church, Water-town, will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery', Watertown. The remains will be in the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Lester H. Rowlings NORTH STREET Lester H. Rawlings, 73, of 5404 State Road, died today in Port Huron Hospital after a short illness. He was born April 25, 1901, in Port Huron, and lived in this area all his life. Rawlings married Ruth C.

McCubbin on Aug. 31, 1935, in Port Huron. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of North Street United Methodist Church. He is survived by his widow; a son, Albert C.

Rawlings, North Street; a daughter, Mrs. Clayton L. Furness, North Street; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel M. Schmidt, Flint, and Mrs.

Sophia V. Quirilan, North Street; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Hubert V. Lucas Funeral Home.

Rev. Herbert L. Griffith, pastor of North Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be. in Lakeport Cemetery.

Ted. C. Schmidt, William P. Mawhin-ney, Gary D. Blackwell, Ronald Havens, Harold D.

Agnew and Benjamin Davey Sr. will be pallbearers. The remains are in the funeral home. Visitation hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m.

Heering ST. CLAIR Mrs. Marion K. Heering, 77, of 7818 Trumble Road. St.

Clair, died Friday in her home after a Ions illness. Mrs. Heering was born Feb. 1, 1897. in Port Huron.

She had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Heering attended Fort Gratiot. Township Schools. She was a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clair. She was married to August T. Heering, June 8, 1916, at Detroit. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs.

Marie L. Zimmer, and Mrs. Florence M. Thorns, both of Port Huron, and Mrs. Joanne R.

Burgett, St. Clair; two sons, Charles J. Heering, and Wilson L. Heering. both of Fulton, two sisters, Mrs.

Nellie E. Turnidge, Portland, and Mrs. Carol E. Heering, Port Huron; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs.

Marion A. Lepien, died Aug. 17, 1972, and another daughter, Miss Frances C. Heering, died June 11, 1925. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.

Tuesday in St. Mary's Chureh, St. -Clair. Rev. Karl D.

Hubble, officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The remains will be in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Sunday.

Edward Thorns, Leslie Burgett, and David Heering will be honorary Ships that ply the lakes Miss Jean Adams MEMPHIS Miss Jean Adams 80541 Belle River road, died today in Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit after a long illness. Miss Adams was a resident of Memphis for 16 years.

Her father, Sidney Adams, died April 4, 1973. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Rhea Adams, Memphis, and a brother, John Gary Adams, Garden City. Remains will be in the Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral arrangements are During the thirties U.S. Steel repowered most of their larger lakers and the Morgan received a new 1,800 horsepower triple expansion engine at that time. It continues to provide faithful service. This ship was laid up at Duluth on Nov. 11, 1960 and remained there until December 1965 when she was sold to her present owners.

She reentered service in 1966 as the Heron Bay and now carries a variety of products. Coal, salt, grain and even deck loads of pulpwood logs are not unusual. The steamer is shown in the Welland Canal on Nov. 7, 1971. By SKIP GILLIIAM The length and capacity of Great Lakes ships was gradually increasing around the turn of the century.

The first 500 footer appeared in 1904 and two years later the first of the 600 footers was launched. This latter ship survives today as the HERON BAY of Comet Enterprises, a subsidiary of the Quebec and Ontario Transportation Co. The Chicago Shipbuilding Co. built this vessel for the United States Steel Corporation and launched her as the J. Pierpoint Morgan.

She sailed in the ore trade and operated with a capacity of 12,700 deadweight tons. John J. Belesky EM.MKTT John J. Belesky. 82.

of 2197 Kinney road, Emmett, died Friday in Mt. Clemens General Hospital after a long illness. Belesky was born March 14, 1892 in Detroit. He was married to the former Miss Martha Lalowsky June 9, 1918. Detroit.

He moved to this area in 1928. He was a retired farmer and a World War I veteran. He is survived by his widow, a son, Harold Belesky, Emmott; a daughter, Mrs. Irene M. Nolan, Smiths Creek; three brothers, Joseph Belsesky.

McMurtrie was born Sept.

9, 1897, in Lynn Township. He had lived in Lynn Township for many years before imoving to Brockway. McMurtrie was a resident and farmer in Brockway for the last 33 years. He attended the Cole United Methodist Church, Yale. He married Millia Clark, Dec.

14, 1916, at Yale. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Verna Leader, Capac; a son, Harold McMurtrie, Yale; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Kaatz Funeral Home, Yale.

Rev. Harvard Warren, pastor of the Cole United Methodist Church, Yale, will officiate, Burial will be in Elm wood Cemetery, Yale. The remains will be in the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. Auditorium.
