Relates Growth Problems In Macomb County "We are accommodators' not County Planners because in Macomb County we are faced with an annual increase of nearly 40,000 people," Bernard Giampetroni, told the St. Clair Regional Planning Commission Tuesday night. Mr. Giampetroni is director of the Macomb County Planning Commission. "Our problems are where the people are.

Seventy per cent of our 570,000 population is south of Fourteen Mile Road and in terms of density our problems are fantastic," he said. In the City of Warren, ground is broken every six weeks for a new elementary school, he stated. Flooding and the lack of recreational ground are two of our main problems, Mr. Giampetroni said. On May 2, the State Health Department issued a ruling that, because the Clinton River was polluted, no more new sewer connections would be allowed.

Mr. Giampetroni said this stopped the many real estate developers in their tracks and some may sue. The ban will not be lifted until a new sewer system has been designed and enforceable contracts provided. All communities south of Twenty Mile Road have planning commissions or zoning and because of their heavy load, some commissions have to meet twice weekly. Mr.

Giampetroni stated that within 10 years there would not be a single acre in Macomb County not within a few min-, utes drive of a major freeway interchange. Mr. Giampetroni was introduced by Richard G. Bingham, St. Clair executive director, who works with the Macomb Commission on planning problems of mutual concern to both counties.
